Visiting Tulcea, a city worth seeing

One can be fascinated by the attractions of this city for years if they decide to spend a longer period of time in this wonderful city. There are lots to see and many things to do in Tulcea. You can visit the largest aquarium of Eastern Europe which has opened its doors not long ago.

Also Sulina and Sf Gherorghe is located near at hand together with other fabulous locations of the Delta, such as museums, monuments, caves, mountains and monasteries. As Tulcea is not a large city it can easily be traversed on foot. Walk along with us and see the Danube Delta, Coral Plaza Mall and other attractions.

What makes Tulcea a special location

The county of Tulcea is basically a touristic zone which is gripping thanks to its beautiful and diverse landscapes, rich and varied archeological sites and historical monuments. Among the most visited locations we can mention the Eco touristic museum center of the Danube Delta where the largest aquarium of Romania is to be found.

Notable touristic sites of Tulcea

There is a long list of important touristic sites in the marvelous city of Tulcea. There is the previously mentioned Eco-touristic Center and the aquarium, the Ethnographic and Folk Art Museum, the Monument of Independence, the History and Archeology museum, the Art Museum, the Azzizie Cathedral and many others. We can also mention the Buna Vestire Church, St Nicholas Cathedral, the Clock Tower, the Civic Market and the list could go on and on.

Pastime in Tulcea

When you are passing through Tulcea it is also worth visiting its surrounding area. You can make a detour towards Macin, Garvan and Isaccea and take a look at their remarkable picturesque landscapes. Also take a trip to the Delta, the kingdom of waters and floating islands, a real paradise of fishermen and huntsmen. This place is also the dwelling location of several bird and plant species.

Churches, monasteries and steppe vegetation

If you have little time and you would want to see as much as possible from Tulcea the best thing to start with are the monasteries around the county. Among the most important we can mention Celic Dere monastery, Cocos monastery and Saon monastery. You should also take a ride to the National Park of Macinului Mountains, which is one of a kind in Romania, as it protects the important surfaces of steppe vegetation which is considered quite rare on a European level.
