The reservation is about 4000 acres wide which and its terrain is spaded, parceled up and sculpted basically by two rivers: the Nera and the Beu. According to a legend there is a bashful lady who appears from time to time to those who choose to go on an adventure in her kingdom.

Nera River

The 22 km long Cheile Nerei lies between the towns of Sopotul Nou and Sasca Romana. The Nera River sets off in the Semenic Mountains and travels a long journey through several hooks, corners and twists. Along the way the river collects all the affluent rivers traversing the mountainous basins. In the summer when the water level is lower you can explore and admire the rich vegetation of the deep shores. Visit and discover the wildlife of Nera.

The red-white signs for example mark the main road and pathway along the Cheile Nerei. If you want to end up at Devil’s Lake follow the trails on the left that lead you across curly paths in an altitude about 500-600m. In case you would like to take a shortcut and take the tour in one day without giving up on seeing the wonderful scenery we suggest you skip this part and start out in the south, at La Logor and go on the path towards the Carbunari-Sopotul Nou.

Enchanting jewels of the reservation

The two most shining jewels of the reservation are the two lakes: the Devil’s Lake and Bei Lake. Some say their beauty is not of this world for their color among the yellow beams and green leafs challenges your eyes and you ask yourself whether the water is blue? Compared to the skies above you might say no, it is like the color of emerald.
