Wildlife features

From the point of view of biogeography we find that there are several euro-siberian elements characteristic to the Central European region. To this adds the significant number of nautical and east-Mediterranean species and subalpine species from the Meridionali Mountains. Domogled is a place where very different elements meet each other and thus it represents the most north-western point where nautical and Mediterranean elements can be found. Towards the north at Baile Herculane less and less butterfly species (ringlets, lattice brown, brush-footed butterflies and others) can be found and in the northwestern region they completely disappear.
